Yesterday Black Duck issued a press release announcing our Code Sight plug-in as part of Microsoft’s launch of Visual Studio 2010 and .NET 4. The VS2010 launch is very big news for the more than six and a half million professionals around the globe who develop software for Windows and other Microsoft platforms. This is the first major announcement including Code Sight, our new enterprise code search application, and the fourth member of the Black Duck Suite.
Code Sight™ is a code search engine that brings transparency and access to an organization’s vast and often distributed code resources. It indexes code across an organization’s numerous source code repositories to enable fast search and navigation at enterprise scale. Code Sight will help software developers understand code, find and fix bugs, navigate unfamiliar code and find code to reuse. We believe that it will revolutionize software development. In fact, we believe so much that we are providing a version of Code Sight to software developers for free. With Code Sight Free Edition , developers will be able to index up to five million lines of code. That is plenty for individual developers, small teams and many open source projects. Larger development organizations can upgrade to Code Sight Enterprise Edition which has no code limits and is part of the Black Duck Suite with options for 24×7 support in over 20 countries.
Download Code Sight Free Edition today and let us know if you agree that code search on the developer desktop will revolutionize the way that software development gets done.
